Improving Health and Wellbeing

At Inzira Initiative, we believe that a child’s education cannot succeed without good health. Many students in Rwanda, especially from poor families, miss school because they cannot afford medical care or insurance. This creates fear, stress, and makes it hard for them to focus on learning.

To close this gap, we support children through Rwanda’s community-based health insurance program (Mutuelle de Santé). By covering their annual insurance fees, we ensure that vulnerable students can access clinics and hospitals whenever they need care. This gives families peace of mind, knowing that their children are protected.

Our wellbeing support goes beyond insurance. We organize healthcare awareness activities in schools and communities, teaching students about hygiene, nutrition, mental health, and disease prevention. We also work with local health centers to connect vulnerable families with the services they need most.

In addition, we stand with the Rwanda school feeding program, which ensures students receive daily meals at school. By supporting and promoting this program, we help reduce hunger, improve concentration in class, and encourage regular school attendance. For many children, this meal is the difference between learning with energy or staying home in weakness.

Good health means more than avoiding sickness — it means giving children the strength and confidence to succeed in school and in life. By supporting their wellbeing, we are building a foundation for a stronger, brighter future for every child we serve.
